About Us

Seasons Ecology is a well-established ecological consultancy providing practical, high-quality technical support for development and conservation projects across the UK.

Led by Directors, Kate Hayward and Hannah Maben, and supported by an experienced and capable team of ecologists, we work with developers, architects, planners and landowners to deliver pragmatic proportionate ecological solutions. Our approach is grounded in sound science, clear communication and a strong understanding of the commercial and regulatory context in which projects are delivered.

Based in Frome and Wellington, we work across the South West and nationwide, supporting projects from early feasibility and planning through to implementation and completion.

Founded in 2012, after Kate and Hannah had worked closely together within the ecological sector, Seasons Ecology was established to reflect a shared commitment to integrity, clarity and the delivery of proportionate, high-quality ecological advice.

Director, Kate, is based in Frome.

I have over 25 years’ experience working in ecological consultancy. Before returning to formal education, I spent a decade working overseas on yachts, travelling extensively and living in close connection with marine and coastal environments. It was during this time, I developed a deep and lasting interest in the natural world. While at sea, I studied independently, completing Physics and Geography A-levels. On returning to the UK, I went on to complete a degree in Environmental Biology and build a career grounded in strong technical expertise and practical application. Alongside my ecological background, I bring many years of experience from the service and hospitality industries. This has given me a strong appreciation of client needs, clear communication and the ability to deliver consistently under pressure.

Director, Hannah, is based in Wellington.

Hannah has also been a practising consultant for 20 years and is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.  Hannah is registered to use Natural England’s Bat Mitigation Class Licence (Annexes B, C and D), holds mitigation licences for badger, bats, dormouse and great crested newt. Hannah holds survey licences for bats, dormouse and great crested newts (England and Wales). Hannah has worked on a range of schemes from private residential schemes through to nationally significant projects. Hannah is based in Wellington.
